DIY'd my own Carrie necklace

Wooooo, everyone who knows me knows that I possess the creativity level of a spoon. Heck, I cant even draw stick people right. So you'd think anything DIY related would result in complete disaster but little did I know I'm pretty nifty when it comes to DIY and crafts. So I asked a colleague of mine if she could give me a lesson in jewellery making.

I'm pretty good at sewing and fixing things, I'd like to think I'm a practical, independent woman who doesn't need a male to change a light bulb! My moms pretty handy when it comes to these things so I'm just gonna say that I've inherited this from her. Here we are below (obvi in our matching hoodies)!!!

ANYWAY, back to what I was getting at.... so my lovely lovely lovely colleague makes a lot of her own jewellery which I've always admired her so much for! So I was like pllllleeeaaasseeee show me! We decided on a "Carrie necklace" but made from wire and thread. I've always wanted a thick gold one but chances that they have my name are pretty slim so I went ahead and chose neon orange string and got to work!

It took forever to wrap the string around a long piece of wire but once it was all wrapped we twisted the letters (warning: the letter K is a bitch to do) attached the chain and the clasps and VOILA.

If you're interested in doing this too you can find the steps here we just used thinner wire than the example used.

Looks good with trouble

Solange can do no wrong <3

I dont think I posted this when me and my housemates were completely obsessed with it months ago- ANYTHING QUESTLOVE X SOLANGE is gold!!!

Who run the world?

GIRLS

I cannot stress this enough. This past year I have really become more aware of global issues regarding feminism  equal rights and justice in general. I've come to realise that the world is actually a horrible horrible place. I'm not going to rant about the thousand and one injustices I read about this week but I shall leave you with just one of the things that touched me this week.

Tidal Wave Girls is a documentary short celebrating the educational and economic advancements women and girls have made in recent years thanks to everyday women.

Please watch it!

“You may not agree with a woman, but to criticize her appearance — as opposed to her ideas or actions — isn’t doing anyone any favors, least of all you. Insulting a woman’s looks when they have nothing to do with the issue at hand implies a lack of comprehension on your part, an inability to engage in high-level thinking. You may think she’s ugly, but everyone else thinks you’re an idiot.” -Hillary Clinton (my HERO)

Food

I've realised that when it comes to food, no matter how it is made or used in a recipe I will always eat anything which contains watermelon or avocado. They are definitely my favs.

Seriously though, how wunderbar does everything look?!
