The tortoise and the hare

Here is my own, home grown version of the famous fable. How cute are they? Anything miniature is okay in my books.

Just Kids

I just finished Patti's Smith memoir, Just Kids. A prelude to fame which focuses on her incredible relationship with Robert Mapplethorpe and recounts their lifelong pursuit of art circa 1960 - 1970 in New York City.

I highly recommend it.

Sibling Saturday

I know... I've slacked once again with my posts. I'm sorry! Being busy with work and life is no excuse I guess...

Last weekend I went up to London for the weekend to see my dear dear brother and sister. My brother lives there but my sister was down for the weekend from NYC. It's pretty sad because the older I get and the closer friends we become the more I actually miss them- never thought I'd see the day! Weird.

Anyway here we are taking a cheesy picture to send to our mom (who we miss lots too).

Bon Iver

For the longest time, I have forever loved Bon Iver. And when I was living back in Spain I was so sad at the thought that I would never get to see them live. BUT I FINALLY DID. They played last Thursday at Wembley Arena and they were in-fucking-credible. I cannot even put in words how good it was. Justin was a million times better than I thought he would ever be and he is hilarious. (Yes, I am aware I sound like a crazy person) After many years of being their number one fan (emo, i know) I got to see them!! YAYAYAYAYAY best day ever.

Charlene & I pre concert

Hi boyfriend!!

Charlene and I even bought matching hoodies lololol. I like this picture too because we're sat on our matching grandma recliner chairs. We've both pretty much been wearing them since we bought them, hilarious.

Lewes Bonfire night

I cannot a year has passed since the last Bonfire night..... WHY IS TIME PASSING BY SO FAST?! ANYWAY, this year was so awesome because I got shown around Lewes by a local! We knew where was best to go at what time and we always had a warm house and bathroom to get to- I was also a little more prepared this yea, ear plugs and all! I also consumed my first couple Hot Toddy's. YUM :-)

Poached eggs

Check out my amazing poached egg! My friend showed me the easiest way to make the perfect poached egg by putting it in cling film and then dunking it in the boiling water for 4 mins. Went all out and bought the English muffins and the Hollandaise sauce innit.

Breakfast for champions!

Ampoigné, Mayenne, France.

Last weekend my house mates and I went to our housemates house in France for a long weekend away! It was the nicest time and I can't wait to go back, eat my weight in butter, baguette and cheese again!

All 5 of us squeezed into a little Nissan Micra, got the ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe (4 hours) and then another 4 hour drive to the little town!

Here are a few pictures from our own version of girls on tour, lol, in Ampoigné.

New Coasters

A few months ago, my friend Emma held a competition on her company's Facebook page subject- upload a picture which makes you happy. I uploaded the photo below (my sweet sweet Noah being all sleepy and cute) and won some beautiful geometric patterned coasters from Contemporary Lab.

Contemporary Lab is a graduate design collective. They design, upholster and up-cycle. Check them out!.

Naomi has a Facebook page!

Hiii all.

My sister, Naomi Shimada, is what some would call a model. She's just made the move to NYC to make it big so that she can hire me as her PA (gotta keep it in the family, obvs).

She is modelling with a purpose, trying to spread a message and be a good role model.

Like her Facebook page to keep up with her latest work and see her newest pictures.

Dogfight

So 2 weeks ago I watched this movie called Dogfight. It's been playing on my mind ever since I've watched it, it's such an unconventional non soppy love story which is exactly what my icy cold heart needs.

I never got on the whole River bandwagon I think the only movie I've ever watched with him are Stand By Me (incredible) and My Own Private Idaho (also pretty good) but now I'm going to slowly get through his filmography. ah the soundtrack is incredible too.

It's weird because in my last post I was raving about Scar Tissue and theres a chapter in there when Anthony shares the moment he found out that River had died (they were friends) and Flea (Red Hot Chilli Peppers bassist) was actually playing a set with River at the Viper Room the night of his death.

Watch the movie it really is great.
